In the Ganesha festival, daily we make modak or sweets as lord Ganesha bhog. Every year makes the same flavor modak is quite boring.
I want to make something new, I saw there is khoya and pumpkin in the house so I decided to make new flavor modak easy pumpkin modak.
Pumpkin modak are little tricky modak as we need to cook it on low flame and make sure that modak batter is completely dry.Pumpkin modak are very soft modak . I made this modak without any modak mold just with hands I shaped modak .
Pumpkin modak are soft modak , nice taste of pumpkin comes in this modak .

Step by step photo guide of Pumpkin modak recipe
In a pan add ghee
in a pan add grated pumpkin
Cook for two to three minutes
Add khoya in pumpkin
Cook for two to three minutes
Add sugar and mix well
Add dry fruit powder, and cardamom powder in modak mixture
Cook modak mixture until it becomes dry and leaves sides of pan
Take out modak mixture in plate and let it cool down completely.
Apply ghee to hands and shape modak with hands
With help of matchbox sticks make lines on modak
Makes all modak same manner.

- In a pan on medium heat add ghee.
- Once ghee is melted add grated pumpkin
- Cook pumpkin for two to three minutes
- Next, add khoya
- Again cook for two to three minutes.
- Next, add sugar and mix well.
- Add dry fruit powder and cardamom powder.
- Cook this mixture until khoya and pumpkin becomes totally dry.
- It takes almost 10-15 minutes.
- Once done take out in plate and let it cool down completely.
- Now, take a lemon size ball and shape modak
- With the help of matchbox sticks make lines on modak.
- Modak are ready to served.

Notes
- If modak are holding shape cook for more five minutes or add 1 tbs of dry fruit powder.
- Pumpkin modak are very soft modak.
- Instead of khoya add Suji or semolina in the same amount.
