Fried Rava Modak Recipe
Fried Rava modak or suji modak is one of the famous and favorite modak recipes in Maharashtra during Ganesh Chaturthi. These modak mostly made during the first day and last day of Ganesh Chaturthi, some people make it at Ganesh sathapana and some of them make it at Ganesh visarjan.
Fried modak always fills with dry fruits. Dry fruits like almond, cashew nuts, coconut granted, raisins, dates which make these modak healthy, and after frying it becomes tasty, crispy, and rich texture modak.

When we hear about Rava modak we mostly like normal Rava modak and another one is fried Rava modak.Â
- Normal Rava modak are like suji halwa modak which are cane be cooked and finally given the modak shape to all of them
- Fried Rava modak is very much likely Rava or Suji modak dough making and then shape it like modak, followed by frying those modak to make it crispy.

Making modak dough
Take fine Rava / Semolina or suji 1 and 1/2 cup, If you didn’t find fine suji then just grind the suji for few seconds in mixture grinder
Now add 2 TBS hot ghee
Mix hot ghee and suji well
Add Milk 1/4 cup or 1/2 cup , add it slowly let Suji soak it properly
Knead a soft dough
Dough is ready , rest the dough for 1/2 hour cover with wet cloth
Making modak Stuffing
Take dry coconut 1/2 cup
grind coconut in grinder and make it coarse coconut
Take almond 15-16
Add Cashew nuts 15-16
now add dry dates approx 3-4
grind in grinder and make a dry fruit powder
Add dryfruit powder to coconut
Powder sugar 1/2 cup
Add Raisins 15-16
Mix well everything
Add pinch of cardamom powder
Shaping modak
Knead modak dough again for 2-3 mins if needed add some milk to make it soft. Make 3 balls
Take plain flour 2 tbs
add 1BS Ghee in that
Mix well to make maida paste
Roll modak dough
apply maida paste on dough , this makes modak crispy
start folding modak roll
Cut this into 21 pieces
Make 3 inch puri of each piece
Add Dryfruits stuffic 1 tbs
Hold puri and start making petals
Final shape of modak
takeout extra top part
Modak is ready , now make remaining modak as same way
Frying all modak
Add Ghee and make it hot
fry modak inside hot ghee
Tasty fried modaks are ready

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup Rava
- 2 tbs Ghee 2 tbs
- Ghee for frying
- 2 tbs Maida
- 1/2 cup Dry coconut
- 15 Almond
- 15 Cashew nut
- 15 Raisins
- 4 Dates
- 1/2 cup Powder sugar
- Cardamom powder a pinch
