Homemade Shrikhand recipe
Shrikhand a word is enough of its love of every Maharashtrian people. Each Maharashtrian family knows shrikhand every kid and every older people loves shrikhand. There are lots of flavors that come in shrikhand like ilaychi, kesar,pista, Kaju badam, mango. Each flavor of shrikhand is unique. Each flavor tastes totally different from one another.
Basically shrikhand is a mixture of yogurt and sugar, the taste is like we are on top of heaven. we eat shrikhand with puri or with chapati and potato curry.
More About Srikhand
In my house I eat shrikhand from my childhood my granny, mother, aunt everyone makes shrikhand .whenever we saw a bag hang on a basic tap or bag hang to the window we know that definitely aae ( means Mother in Marathi ) is going to make shrikhand today.
For making srikhand, it is essential to have nice, fresh, and sour curd. In my house also my husband and son love shrikhand a lot every month we make shrikhand at home it basically just hung curd mix with sugar.
I always make shrikhand at my home one day I called mother in law and said today I am making shrikhand so she said just one-time sieve with stainer so that shrikhand and see result what happen.
So I follow her instructions and sieve shrikhand from stainer and the result was quite surprising I got super soft shrikhand. Taste also comes better.
Whenever we sieve shrikhand with any stainer or from. Puran machine enhances the taste of shrikhand. In my childhood also my mother sieve shrikhand from the Puran machine.

Chakka making
In a bowl keep big cotton cloth pour curd in cloth .
Tie a knot to cloth make a potli or bag.
Now hang this curd bag to a basin tap or any counter hook keep the bowl below so that all extra water fell down that in that bowl. Hanged curd is also called as “Chakka”
Hang this bag for at least 6-7 hours. After seven hours take out bag. Hang curd or chakka is ready.
Making Shrikhand from chakka
In a bowl mix curd and powder sugar.
Now in a big bowl keep a sieve . Pour curd mixture and sieve curd .
Once all srikhand is done add cardamom powder .
Add cashew nut and mix well.
And mix well.
Super yummy srikhand is ready. Enjoy srikhand with puri.
Homemade shrikhand recipe card
Ingredients
To make 2 cups of shrikhand
- 1 liter Curd
- 1 cup Powder sugar
- 2 tbs Almond finely chopped
- 2 tbs Cashew nut finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
Instructions
Chakka making
- In a bowl keep big cotton cloth pour curd in cloth.
- Tie a knot to cloth make a potli or bag.
- Now hang this curd bag to basin tap or any counter hook keep bowl below so that all extra water fell down that in that bowl.
- Hang this bag for at least 6-7 hours.
- After seven hours take out bag.
- Hung curd is ready.
Shrikhand making from chakka
- Now in a bowl mix curd and powder sugar.
- Now in a big bowl keep a sieve.
- Now pour curd mixture and sieve curd.
- Once all shrikhand is done add almond.
- Add cashew nut and mix well.
- Finely add cardamom powder .
- And mix well.
- Super yummy srikhand is ready.
- Enjoy srikhand with puri.
